    Introduction

Welcome back to our discussion on empowering infrastructure and operations to manage Kubernetes. I’m David Brown, head of hybrid cloud services at Hewlett Packard Enterprise for Australia and New Zealand. Today, we’ll continue our exploration of the impact of Kubernetes on digital transformation, with a focus on how businesses can position their container strategy for success.

Key Takeaways from the Mini Keynote

In our previous session, Michael Draper, Director for HPE Technical Cloud Solutions, provided valuable insights into the impact of disruptive technologies like containers on digital transformation. He emphasized the importance of understanding stakeholder expectations and desired business outcomes, as well as the challenges and opportunities that come with deploying Kubernetes.

    Fireside Chat with Industry Experts

Suganthi Krishnavarthi, platform architect at VMware Tanzu, and Andrew Farmer, Asia Pacific Pre-Sales Lead for HPE Esmeralda Group, shared their perspectives on what’s helping organizations deliver value faster and why some businesses are accelerating faster than others in the container adoption race. They highlighted the role of Kubernetes in simplifying infrastructure and providing a layer of abstraction for development and operations teams.

    Accelerating Container Adoption

Suganthi emphasized the cultural and people aspect of container adoption, noting that change is hard and organizations often struggle with decision-making when it comes to choosing tools and technologies. She also highlighted the need for automation and the ability of Kubernetes to provide a seamless interface for interacting with infrastructure.

    • Importance of automation in container adoption
    • Seamless interface for interacting with infrastructure

Andrew expanded on the benefits of Kubernetes, emphasizing its agnostic nature towards infrastructure and its ability to make applications more portable. He also discussed the importance of maintaining a modular and open system architecture, allowing for future-ready solutions.

Addressing the HR Challenge in Container Adoption

One of the questions that emerged during our Q&A session was around the HR challenge in container adoption. What skills should businesses be looking for and how should they address the HR challenges around the whole topic of containers? Andrew provided valuable insights into the blend of skills required and the need to complement existing skill sets with newer tools in the open source space. He emphasized the importance of understanding the portability of existing skill sets and how they can be leveraged in the container space.

    Conclusion

On a click of a button, your environment is ready. Or on a click of a button, a developer can actually self-serve an environment for themselves. This reduces a lot of operational cost for the business. And if they were spending weeks trying to create an environment before, their teams were waiting a week before an environment is ready for them to move on to the next environment, be it production or pre-production. Now, being able to automate this and provide an environment on self-serve, this is from a week to minutes. That is a compelling business case for businesses to decide. So at the end of the day, it’s a cost conversation.

Fantastic. Well, I had a, absolutely. I had a great anecdote from someone that I’ll wrap up on. I had a project where a number of decades ago, we built a bank platform for them. It took about 8 years to complete the thing from original idea design through an implementation. We went back recently and implemented it. And we did the project about 8 months and they were very excited. The latest implementation allows them to deploy a banking platform in 8 minutes with orchestration and they are from Southeast Asia and I won’t name them. They don’t need the free plug, but they described it as a lucky project and I scratched my head for a while and I realized oh, yeah, 8 years to 8 months 8 minutes. That’s the 3 eights great news And I think that sort of highlights where we’re going.

Well, I want to thank David Brown for the opportunity to be part of this event. I think it’s a very big conversation, but it’s a conversation that’s been very well highlighted today in some of the business benefits around empowering infrastructure Operations to manage Kubernetes. Michael Draper, thank you very much for your amazing intro and lead into digital transformation and where that’s playing out. Saganthi, Andrew, thank you so much for your time. It’s been an amazing conversation. I’ve really enjoyed the Fireside Chat with both of you.

Folks, if you are joining us on the live stream, thank you so much for making time in your busy day, evening, morning, whatever it might be to join us in real time, wherever you are. I hope you’re all keeping well, healthy and safe. If you’re joining us on the replay, we’re really pleased you were able to find it. And we’ll hope that you share it with your colleagues and associates through your organizations, your teams. And we would love you to ensure that you are joining the conversation online through digital and social platforms. So please do make sure you’re following HPE AsiaPAC, HPE globally, follow each of our participants today, Saganthi, Andrew, Michael, and David Brown on social media, whether it’s on Twitter and LinkedIn. And if you do have further questions, post those questions to them on various platforms, via LinkedIn, send them in email, or reach out through your various partners and resellers and integrators to put those questions to them. It is a big topic, It is a challenging time in the world, but it’s also very exciting. There are some great opportunities to be leveraged in time, resource, cost and benefits come through. Thank you so much for joining us. We’ll see you in the next 1. I’m Des Blanchfield. It’s been a pleasure having your time and stay safe. We’ll see You

As organizations continue to navigate the challenges of digital transformation, it’s clear that Kubernetes plays a pivotal role in empowering infrastructure and operations to manage containers effectively. By understanding the cultural and technological aspects of container adoption, businesses can accelerate their digital transformation journey and deliver value faster.

Stay tuned for more insights and discussions on empowering infrastructure and operations to manage Kubernetes. Thank you for joining us today.
